In 2017, more than 16 billion transactions were made using electronic fund transfer systems. Currently, over 290 million payment cards are active and there are over 4 million EFTPOS terminals and over 40k ATMs in Iran.
The annual conference on Monetary and Exchange Rate Policies has been held since 1990 and the annual conference of Electronic Banking and Payment Systems began in 2012 and has grown significantly both in terms of quality and professional participation at the domestic and international levels.
