With population of more than 80 million people, mostly comprising young and educated generation, Iran is a growing market for new financial technologies and banking services. As of 2017, there are 30 banks in Iran. Over the past decade, IT and ICT networks have expanded, allowing rapid growth in electronic banking and payment services. In 2017, more than 16 billion transactions were made using electronic fund transfer systems. Currently, over 290 million payment cards are active and there are over 4 million EFTPOS terminals and over 40k ATMs in Iran.

Those interested to submit their articles, are invited to send an extended abstract from conference webpage www.ebps.ir to the scientific secretariat no later than 6 November 2017. The deadline for the submission of the full text of accepted articles is 21 December 2017.
Abstract of articles should appear in maximum 1000 words. You can download the acceptable format for the submission of articles here.
The language of the conference is Farsi, though simultaneous English translation is available for non-Iranian participants.

MBRI was founded in 1990 as the think tank for CBI in response to a growing need for research relating to the field of monetary-exchange rate policy and banking. To create the required policy-oriented research capacity in the afore-mentioned areas MBRI has instituted 6 research divisions: banking, electronic banking, Islamic banking, financial management, monetary-and exchange rate policy, and quantitative modeling. The research work undertaken at MBRI have been published and publicized through various mediums and forums including two regular annual conferences. The annual conference on Monetary and Exchange Rate Policies has been held since 1990 and the annual conference of Electronic Banking and Payment Systems began in 2012 and has grown significantly both in terms of quality and professional participation at the domestic and international levels.

The 7th Annual Conference on Electronic Banking and Payment Systems

The Monetary and Banking Research Institute (MBRI) and National Informatics Corporation (NIC), a subsidiary IT holding company of the Central Bank, have organized the Annual Conference of Electronic Banking and Payment Systems (EBPS) since 2011. MBRI and NIC have assumed this new responsibility in line with their expanded mission to undertake and fund research and to organize scientific forums in the fields of EB and PS. The objective of the annual EBPS is to disseminate frontier knowledge in this field to the banks and create a professional forum in this field for the banking community, finance companies, academia, and IT experts so as to identify important IT applications and solution in EB and PS.
