Jaap is Associate Partner at Philip Sidney in Amsterdam (since July 2015). He has15 years experience working at the Ministry of Finance of The Netherlands, in export credit insurance, legislation on banking supervision, management and privatization of state-owned enterprises and the provision of corporate finance with partial government guarantees.
For over another 15 years he has extensive experience as Senior Vice President at Philips International M&A department and as banking Board member (CFO, CFRO, dep. Chairman and CEO) at DSB Bank, SNS Property Finance (a property finance bank) and SNS Bank in The Netherlands.
Jaap worked on introducing Basel II and III at European banks, as well managed a transition from Dutch banking system gaap’s to IFRS. He has often been confronted with very challenging governance and in-control issues regarding business operations and associated risks.
Throughout his career Jaap gained in depth knowledge in corporate (including M&A) and retail banking and structured finance markets. Under his responsibility over € 6 bln. of funding was raised in the capital markets. In his major transaction duties Jaap worked with most major global investment banks, as well with big audit firms (EY, KPMG). Jaap interacted with the major rating agencies (S&P, Moody’s and Fitch) in the course of periodic rating exercises.
Jaap van Dijk has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) from Erasmus University of Rotterdam.
